Holiday Of Fall 2018 For The Youngest Participants Of SARGO

Some questions to us, adults:

How do we remember autumn in childhood?

How did the trees seem to us?

Were there favorite colors in the fall?

Did we like playing in the rain, with umbrellas?

On October 20, the youngest participants of SARGOI International Community greeted the autumn holiday, and made their parents happy with their first successes in communicating in English.

In the photo: children tell us about what they see in autumn. They create colorful trees, play in the rain and with umbrellas, learn and repeat words and phrases.

SARGOI sincerely thanks our youngest children for the holiday and atmosphere, the organizers-teachers for their skill and creative approach, and parents for sharing our values in raising the future generation!

Results Of The Parents’ Meeting

At the children’s school of English Speak & Go, which is an integral part of the SARGOI International Community, age-groups from Baby Go 3-4 ages to advanced teens are represented. Teachers-educators at the Head Office in Kyiv prepared a number of questions and suggestions for the parents' meeting that took place on October 19:

1. How does our brain remember?

10% of what we read

20% of what we hear

30% of what we see

40% of what we see and hear

70% of what we do

(!) More than 90% of what we teach someone.

That is why the basis of our community's learning is a method where the focus is on the student, and the main task of the teacher is to create, with the help of English, conditions for the development of potential and important skills.

The skills we strive to promote and develop in the children's school are: self-organization, autonomy, creative and independent thinking, teamwork and communication with different people, and solving day-to-day tasks.

2. What possibilities for motivating children and adolescents to learn and practice language are organized by SARGOI?

🔵Thematic holidays and parties: Holiday of Autumn, Halloween, St. Nicholas Day, Spring Festival, Easter Holidays

🔵Seminars: for the development of leadership skills, a seminar for boys, a seminar for girls, meetings with prominent people

🔵Intellectual Competitions and Teens Games: The More You Know, Mafia, and more

3. How to push a child to study a favorite subject in English? How to help a child understand what she wants to do in the future?

We invite children and teens from ages 11 to 18 to take part in the international online competition Owlypia 2019. The competition will be held on March 16, 2019. The child will choose their favorite of six subjects and prepare carefully through recommended literature and video reviews. There are also online resources to explore, to answer a number of questions. Keep up with the news, read and watch the presentation!

4. Why to pass the Cambridge exams?

-Practicality: Exams are designed to take into account real situations of everyday life and learning.

-Complexity: Exams take into account different levels of English language proficiency.

-Contribution to future education: Exams are intended for higher education, and to direct the development of academic and preparation skills for the exam.

-International recognition: Exams are international; they can be taken anywhere in the world.

-Objectivity: Exams have a fair system of evaluation and a reliable system of protection.

5. Several questions and suggestions for solving them for parents

🔴Using mobile phones before going to free time. Unfortunately, children often play games that are an easier for them to spend time than just communicating with peers.

We invite parents to download apps designed to develop imagination, attention, or English.

* SARGOI uses the Internet as a tool for learning and identifying specific tasks, but the main priority is to develop the skills of communicating children with each other.

🔴Questions of the interaction of children with each other. Classes are aimed at ensuring that children communicate and work in pairs / groups / teams. When teachers announce who works with someone, you can often hear a denial or a negative reaction because it's easier for kids to work with a classmate from school, or with a girlfriend, than with someone new.

We invite parents to work with teachers in the team and explain to children that in travel, study or other life lessons, the child will not attend with a classmate or friend. She should learn how to get in touch with different people.

🔴Self-assessment. There is a tendency for some children to have low self-esteem.

We invite parents to praise and encourage children at home more often. Indeed, even a small victory deserves attention and motivates for better results if it is also noticed by parents.

We thank you for your wonderful children, and invite you to actively contribute to the issue of linguistic education, which carefully lays the foundation for their future.

Valuable ideas:

Have you ever thought about the difference between a teacher, a trainer, a coach, and a consultant?

Here are some simple but great ideas for you to keep in mind:

Within the business English a lot of teachers call themselves trainers, coaches, or even consultants. What's the difference?

  • A teacher is traditionally seen as someone whose task is to educate someone so that they can have more chances in succeeding in life.
  • A trainer, on the other hand is someone who is required to change person's behavior or an ability so that they could do a specific job. Training is job-oriented while teaching is person-oriented.
  • Teacher as a coach: A coach is someone who can help a learner take advantage of the learning opportunities in their own learning environment. It involves helping the learner to better understand his or her own strengths and weaknesses, and plan accordingly.
  • Teacher as a consultant: A consultant is an expert who is brought in because his or her skills or know-how is not available in the organization. In business English, the term can cover a wide area; it may include the ability to analyze communication and communications needs, it may require the teacher to recommend a training supplier, or it may involve the teacher negotiating with a number of hotels to choose the best location for a course, for example. Many freelancer teachers operate as consultants; they market themselves in order to gain access to a potential client, they discuss contracts, carry out needs analysis, they evaluate training delivery and outcome.
