IH Ellesmere is located on the border between England and Wales, in a beautiful village in typical English countryside. Ellesmere College is one of the leading UK boarding schools, specialising in academic and sporting excellence. The cities of Manchester and Liverpool are within easy reach of the school. The historic campus is safe, with excellent modern facilities.
On-site facilities include:
- Sports facilities: 9-hole golf course, tennis courts, multi-sport playing fields, modern indoor sports hall, and indoor swimming pool.
- Classrooms: well-equipped classrooms with a maximum of 15 students per class.
- Separate teaching and housing for 8-11 year-old students.
- Common areas: lounge areas in each accommodation house, with computers and televisions.
- Dining hall: hot and cold meals are served from a buffet in a large hall and light snacks are available throughout the day.

Discover English is our fun English programme which operates in the spring in Oxford (12-17 year-olds).
This programme will give you:
- 15 hours per week of dynamic, engaging and stimulating English lessons from post-beginner to advanced
- Two communicative and fun activities each day designed to build confidence, teamwork and friendship
- Exciting excursions to favourite locations Supervision by fully qualified and vetted staff, 24 hours a day
- Daily house meetings
English Plus programme. This option is available for 12-17 yearolds on the summer programme in Ellesmere. Choose this programme to focus on building your English to its best possible level:
- Speaking better
- Vocabulary builder
- Exam and study skills
- Preparing to study in the UK
- An introduction to boarding school
This includes 21 hours of tuition per week and is a topic and activity-based approach which is lively and dynamic. It’s possible to work hard and learn whilst being in a welcoming and fun environment. We prove it on the English Plus Programme!
English Active allows you to receive professional coaching in around 11 popular activities, ranging from drama and art & design, to football, swimming and horse riding. All coaches are professionals in their activity. You still follow the daily English programme and have time to join in fun activities with your new international friends.
All aspects of the program adapted to the age and level of English language - everything from accommodation, and ending with specially designed training materials, additional classes and excursions!
Thrilling excursions:
Students who come for one week riding on one excursion for the whole day and one half-day excursion.
For those who come for two weeks, there are three full-day excursions and two - for half a day.
Excursions from Ellesmere include cultural trips to London, Oxford and Liverpool and Chester for shopping and National Park Snowdonia. Moreover, students can also choose between trips to London and Edinburgh overnight.
