The Irishman Behind Dracula

The Irishman Behind Dracula

October: Ireland

Bram Stoker was an Irish writer born in Dublin in 1847. He became world-famous for creating Dracula, a Gothic novel published in 1897.

The story follows Count Dracula, a mysterious vampire who travels from Transylvania to England and threatens the people he meets.

Stoker combined frightening supernatural elements with themes of science, fear and the unknown.

Although he wrote other books, Dracula became his most famous work and helped shape the modern image of the vampire.

Today, the character appears in countless films, television series, books and games, proving that an Irish author helped create one of the world’s most recognisable horror legends.
