Stonehenge

Stonehenge

September: England

Stonehenge is one of England's most famous prehistoric monuments.

It stands on Salisbury Plain in the south of England and was built thousands of years ago.

The monument consists of large stones arranged in a special circular shape.

We still do not know exactly why people built Stonehenge, but it may have been connected with religion, ceremonies or the movement of the sun.

Today, Stonehenge attracts visitors from all over the world and reminds us of the mysterious history of prehistoric Britain.

The word of the day:  mysterious /mɪˈstɪə.ri.əs/

Meaning: strange, not fully understood, or full of secrets.

Example: Stonehenge is a mysterious monument because nobody knows how ancient people moved the giant stones or why they built it.
