English Countryside

English Countryside

September: England

The English countryside is very different from busy London.

It is full of green fields, small villages, old cottages, rivers and quiet roads.

Many villages have a traditional pub, a church and small houses made of local stone or brick.

People in rural areas may work on farms, look after animals or run local businesses.

The countryside is also popular with visitors who enjoy walking, cycling and spending time in nature.

For many people, the English countryside represents a peaceful and traditional side of England.

The word of the day:  rural /ˈrʊə.rəl/

Meaning: in or relating to the countryside, not the city.

Example: My grandparents live in a quiet rural village in England with small stone cottages and green sheep farms.
