April Fools' Day

April Fools' Day

April: Nature, Science & Wonder

This day is celebrated in many countries around the world. Its exact origin is not clear, but some people believe it started in Europe in the 16th century when the calendar changed and some people continued to celebrate the New Year in spring. Over time, this day became known for playing harmless jokes and tricks on friends, family, and even in the media. In different cultures, people have their own traditions, but the main idea is to have fun and laugh together. Today, April Fools' Day reminds us not to take everything too seriously and to enjoy a sense of humor in everyday life.

The word of the day:  the joke is on you (idiom)/ðə dʒəʊk ɪz ɒn juː/

Meaning: you thought you were tricking someone, but you were fooled instead

Example: You laughed at me, but the joke is on you — I was right!
