World Pizza Day

World Pizza Day

February: Voices & Identity

Pizza, one of the most popular foods in the world today, has its origins in Naples, Italy, where it was first made as a simple meal for poor workers in the 18th and 19th centuries. When Italian immigrants brought pizza to the United States in the late 1800s, it began to spread across the world and develop many new styles and flavours. Today, pizza’s global popularity reminds us how a humble street food can become a cultural symbol that brings people together and reflects different traditions.

The word of the day:  crust (noun) /krʌst/

Meaning: an outer edge or base of a pizza.

Example: I love a pizza with a crispy crust.
