This day remembers the Chornobyl disaster in Ukraine, one of the worst nuclear accidents in history. The explosion at the power plant released dangerous radiation into the environment, affecting many people and large areas of land. Thousands of workers, known as liquidators, risked their lives to stop the disaster and reduce its impact. Today, people honor their bravery and remember the victims. The day also teaches us about the importance of safety, responsibility, and careful use of nuclear energy.
