World Poetry Day

World Poetry Day

March: Change & Responsibility

The day was created by UNESCO to appreciate poetry and its role in culture and education. Poetry is a form of writing that uses words, rhythm, and imagination to express feelings, ideas, and stories. On this day, people read, write, and share poems from different countries and cultures. It helps people enjoy literature, understand emotions, and discover the creativity of writers from all over the world.

The word of the day:  verse (noun)/vɜːrs/

Meaning: a single line of poetry or a collection of lines forming a unit.

Example: The first verse of the poem was deeply emotional.

 Your MINI-TASK:

Listen to William Henry Davies's poem and answer the questions.
