World Thinking Day

World Thinking Day

February: Voices & Identity

World Thinking Day is a special day which started in 1926 to celebrate the birthdays of Lord and Lady Baden-Powell, the founders of the Scouts and Guides. Today, millions of young people around the world celebrate this day to think about their "sisters" and "brothers" in other countries. In many cultures, it is a time for international friendship. Young people learn about global problems, like protecting the environment or helping poor people. They also collect money that helps young people in developing countries. It is a tradition that shows how small actions can help the whole world.

The word of the day:  ponder (verb) /ˈpɒndər/

Meaning: to think about something deeply

Example: As the sun set, he sat by the river to ponder the mysteries of the universe.
