Carnival Day

Carnival Day

February: Voices & Identity

A carnival is a fun festival that people celebrate in many countries. Long ago, people wanted to enjoy music, dancing, and colourful costumes before Lent, so they started celebrating carnivals. Today, famous carnivals in Rio de Janeiro, Venice, and New Orleans attract many visitors. Carnivals show us how traditions can bring joy and fun to people everywhere.

The word of the day:  dress up (phrasal verb)/drɛs ʌp/

Meaning: to wear special clothes, often for a celebration or carnival.

Example: At the carnival, children dress up in colourful costumes and masks.
