Міжнародний день світлофора відзначається 5 серпня. Найперший світлофор винайшов британець Джей Найт ще у 19 столітті. Він був встановлений біля будівлі парламенту в Лондоні у 1868 році. Зараз світлофори допомагають регулювати рух транспортних засобів різних видів та пересування пішоходів через дорогу.
